What is the United Way Volunteer Connection?

The United Way Volunteer Connection is an important part of the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.  In addition to conducting an annual fundraising campaign, United Way works year round to promote volunteerism and raise other resources to meet the health and human service needs of the community.

How does the Volunteer Connection work?

The main component of the Volunteer Connection is the referral service.  United Way works with 90+ organizations in Monongalia and Preston Counties.  When someone calls United Way (296-7525) or emails the Volunteer Connection Coordinator, they can learn about many volunteer opportunities available.  Based on their interests, skills, and time available, potential volunteers are then linked with the agency that can best use their time and talents.

What is the Wish List?

Many nonprofit organizations rely on "in-kind" donations of equipment and supplies – everything from computers to paper clips. When someone has these items to spare either at home or at work, we ask them to look at our “wish list” to see what agencies are in need of those items.

What is the Corporate Volunteer Council?

A joint program between United Way and the Family Resource Network, the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) is a group of businesses that meet monthly and coordinate monthly service projects. Businesses of all types and sizes are welcome to participate.   Currently, members include single-person businesses to some of the larger employers in the area.
